Twitter - The Marketing Bird!

Twitter is growing at a rapid pace and experts think that at the end of the current fiscal year the count for "tweeps" (a term given to twitter users) will touch the 18million mark for U.S alone. Twitter is unique in the sense that it can be used as a great marketing tool by those organizations who want to extend their reach to their clients and customers.

The 140 word limit may seem less to those who are not accustomed to twitter or are used to the long status updates of Facebook, but for these who understand the power of Twitter, these 140 words are more than enough. Although still not comprehended by all, marketers have started to realize the power within these short "Tweets". It is a very interactive medium and offers easy engagement with users. Launching a new product? Promoting a new service? Tweet it and let everyone know about it.

Twitter has a very good feature integrated in the "tweet bar" which not many people use. By simply adding a "@" symbol you can in fact create an archive of that topic. For example if I am tweeting about the latest services offered by "Facebook Guru" and I add a "@" symbol before it twitter will automatically index all articles marked with "@Facebook Guru". How is this helpful? Well this is very helpful if we come to think of it. Any user who wishes to see all the services, posts made on this or some other topic has to simply click the marked word (Facebook Guru as in our example) and all the tweets made on it will be displayed.

It must however be remembered that the aim of twitter is to give a medium to people for better interaction so it is not necessary that you always tweet something related to your business. You can tweet just about anything! If you find some interesting article, news etc tweet it and share it with your friends and clients both. This also is in a way helpful to you as a company because it helps you in connecting more appropriately with your clients.
